Franken boats
I came across this the other day. It seems the Classic Moth-ers are taking all sorts of cutting tools to some unlikely looking boats and converting them to Classic Moths. It's quite intriguing. Have a look, there are pics of the Maser (Laser to Moth) and the Moth Ball (well, have a guess!)

Both those boats are fantastic.
The cut and shut Laser - gives a bit of extra rocker at the same time.
And the front part of the fireball just looks great. Rocker flattens out just nice.
Wonder if they are finding ways to low cost the sails and spars to get the right sort of area.

I can see the attraction of the Classic Moth sub-class. Looks like a lot of fun can be had for relatively little money.
Loose footed sails are not allowed which rules out cutting down Laser sails. In any case, a 72sq ft sail is not really going to break the bank.
I wonder why they go with stays, as the rules don't specify them? Maybe it's to extract more power by stopping the mast from bending sideways, although I notice that not many bother with spreaders. I found one that doesn't, and it looks to be a wooden mast too. Attachment 171583
