Ha ... you with beat the Netherlanders if you do that. Though they might be able to raise you by two OZ Racers. Is anyone looking at taking a Goat in Woodenboat's Small Reach Regatta? if that is the right name? Best wishes MIK

The Small Reach has already come and gone this year, Mik.
Small Reach Regatta 2010 picture thread
I didn't think I was going to be available due to scheduling conflicts, and I didn't sign up before the window closed. Maybe next year? Personally, I think I might enjoy a little lower key messabout without the prestigious Wooden Boat overtones, they make it seem like there's a very high bar to clear. I'm not sure if Zinea, Pterodactylus or her skipper would be a good fit. Maybe I should start my own?
Or maybe it's all in my head, and I'm self-conscious of my fillets.

Count me in for the Small Reach next year!
I am pretty sure I'll be done by then.

I will do the SRR next year, retaining my #8 spot in the fleet. And I WILL have my Goat. My goodness...we could take over the fleet. The Goat will excel. THink about how to make a fold up tiller for crew to sit on aft tank while rowing.

Alright, if you guyses go, I'll go too. We all have to talk piratey though!
Clint, I know you keep mentioning a fold up tiller, but I've got my detachable tiller:

Those two bolts have butterfly nuts on the other side. Works well. Just an idea.
When I'm rowing with crew, the tiller doesn't really get in the way, if anything I have them steer a bit since even with the rudder up, there's always a little bit in the water, and with the low resistance of the Goat, it makes a difference, it can definitely pull... which can help counteract a cross wind too. All sorts of options to make her row straighter.

Actually, we motor sail a lot, the mainsail up, and one oar out on the lee side one person rowing, then other steers and the sail provides a little lift. I will be engineering some sort of fold up/hinged tiller. Actually, I like your trick, Christophe, and may press for more feedback when the time comes to build something like it.
Here is a large collection of photos by Lauren Noyes.

Oh, it would be awesome to have you guys. I will be in touch about the registration dates. Since you are new, the earlier the better and I can be sure to mention you guys when you paperwork goes in. I think it isn't March before any paperwork starts. Something to look forward to in the depth of winter. THis past year was the best we had since the thing began 4 years ago. Next year will likely be at Lamoine State Park, outside Ellsworth, again.
MIK --- worth another trip to the US!!!
By the way, I am trying to find a designer-builder for my second annual shop talk/messabout. That person has big shoes to fill.

Size 7 1/2.
I am glad this is continuing. Something is a tradition when it happens a second time ... RIGHT!?

The SRR is going great thanks to such professional organization. The TSCA guys are really awesome. I had the honor of hosting the whole fleet (50+ boats) at a sand bar between two small islands that the family owns up the coast.
Just for the record, my feet are precisely bigger than MIK's by a factor of exactly 2!!!
I'm making a call to someone I hope will fill those 7 1/2's! Second time indeed.

Does anynone have a PDF copy of the GIS plans? We lost the rudder box and tiller diagram page, and have looked everywhere and it hasn't turned up. We were hoping to build the tiller soon so if anyone could post that page or email it to me ([email protected]) that would be great.
