It was an unbelievable day out last Sunday. Mostly it was really windy. A couple of times, we were running back in with the wind pretty much directly behind us, and it would gust up to a force 5 breeze plowing us along faster than I've gone in my goat before and creating a noticeable and audible bow wave. The still pics don't do justice to how fast we were moving.
It was really fun!
Get ready Christophe, we gotta do some sailing this season!Visit My GIS Blog at. . .

I'm in NY now on the Hudson and was just thinking that we need to get a gathering of Goats together this season.

Big Move
I think a "Meeting of the Goats" is definitely in order sometime soon. Imagine a fleet of us, standing at the helm in a stiff breeze, flying over the water. Gives me chills of excitement.
Big changes in my life, though thankfully i think they'll mean more sailing in the end. My lovely and talented wife Sasha recently got a new job up in Toronto, where she grew up. She started several weeks ago up there, and in the meantime I've been here in Brooklyn wrapping things up and saying my goodbyes after 12 years here. This weekend I'm loading the Goat up on it's little trailer, and driving it up to Canada where we will begin the thorough exploration of Lake Ontario, and the Georgian Bay by sail.
I will still have a car and a trailer, And Toronto is not too far away. Maybe we can set up an informal Goat Raid on Lake Champlain or a similar destination in the future?
So many Possibilities. . .Visit My GIS Blog at. . .

Congratulations and good luck with the life changes.
My own life changes seem to be working out rather nicely for me.
I am certainly interested in a Gathering of the Goats. Currently based in central Michigan, I am mobile and have few "scheduled" events or outings to interfere. I do, of course, need to finish the remedial work I am doing on my Goat. Once the boat is done and in sailing condition I have two known planned outings: In early July I will be sailing in Les Cheneaux Islands at the north end of Lake Huron. In September I will be visiting the West Coast.Building Gardens of Fenwick, a Welsford Parthfinder

Good luck with the move Al. As someone who has moved often, I know it's a mixture of trepidation and excitement.
I wish is could have visited you and your Goat in the City. But I would be absolutely consider sailing Champlain some time in the future.
No need for teary good byes since you're sure to keep us all informed how your Goat fares in Canadana. But I will wish you a safe and enjoyable trip!Dave
