Default Goat Island Skiff - Now at the movies!

I've been mucking around with the old digi-still camera, which does a reasonable movie clip, so have a couple of Goat Island Skiff movies to show you blokes
    1) How she goes with one person in a stiffish breeze. That's Boatmik at the helm, and in some of the puffs that day he wished he was me (cause he needed a couple of kilos more on the rail really).

It was a bit awkward getting her cranking because there's not much braking distance in our little river, but you'll get the picture.

    2) How she goes in a modest breeze with three aboard. There are plenty of places to move around, although the breeze was quite tricky she was never out of control (which is why I've left the little clip of her going onto her ear, so all can see the quick recovery a bit of helm over, a shift of weight and an easing of the mainsheet can acheive!

Hope you enjoy 'em. I'm sitting here, wishing I could go out now, but it's dark and I don't have nav lights.

    Cheers,

    P

    Midge,
Thanks for posting Boatmik makes it look easy, they sure are a pretty boat.

I'm thinking a GIS is on the project list after the PDRacer, TV cabinets, sideboard..............um nah after the duck.

    Cheers Mike

    Hi Mike,

They are all the same shape apart from the Goat!!!

But I doubt the sideboard will sail as well as the PDR.

Fine boat indeed! I like it very much!!!
She is great for all winds and for flat waters - up to 3 persons!
    Great!!!

Works nicely with 4 Adults too.

My first sail of the goat around 13 years ago was with Biting and Jo Midge, me and my ex-partner.

We spent a few nice hours skimming over the shallow of Moreton bay - poking into the corners.

The boat is no slouch at all with 4 aboard - you can still cover real distance. You can see from the three person video the boat is whizzing along and not making much fuss in the water.

Not waves and turbulence generally indicates a boat is pretty efficient or that it is not moving with any speed.
