Yes, I did Read that...but I find it hard to mess up my gloss... ...I know, I'm sick like that......

Since I don't really plan on walking all over the cockpit, probalby just stay in the middle part...I may try Two Things....

The first is a Clear Tape they use for the Side of Paddleboards to guard against "nicking" the side of the board with your paddle....The Tape is Glass Clear when put on and is Sort of "soft" to the feel, .....Its seems like it won't be slippery when wet....They also put it on the leading edge of airplane wings to keep rocks or nicks from happening....also similar stuff for Headlights cover for cars or to prevent paint chips.....I have a board with about 6 coats of Varnish that Im going to apply the tape to and then get it wet and see if its slippery... If it works, I was just going to make a couple of "Pads" with it for the floor.

2nd option is to put Two stick on Non skid pads....similar to what is used on boat steps ....One or two placed strategically should help and I always wear nonskid shoes or Boating crocs that grip slippery surfaces anyway.......

But the "Sugar" did look nice.

Here is 3 coats of Interlux Perfection Plus 2 part varnish on the Center board:

Default Louisiana PDR Oz3..Bubinga and cypress wood..Rudderbox complete

The anti chafe tape is useless as anti slip. The sugar is best as it is clear when it absorbs the PU. Don't think you don't need it anti slip. The first time you go cockpit surfing will be too late!

Au Contraire.......I just tested the Tape on a piece of Ply that I have been Varnishing.....Its not useless, but instead gave me about 70 percent more grip than "No Tape", to the Varnished surface...I compared wearing boating crocs.

Here are some Pictures:........I also wear Boating crocs with a non skid sole.....Barefooted, the taped section is still better, but I wouldn't rely on it that much....the Shoes help

The Tape is also GREAT for preventing dings in your varnish on rub rails and the like...It bends and stretches around curves perfectly and Peels off with no residue...its good stuff.
    https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catal...?clickkey=5614

I placed the wood under about 2 in. of water also and it gave good grip, compared to No tape on the wood.....I'm also going to use these Pads (seen in pictures) for added grip...maybe two or three of them. I like the Tape to protect the finish on the Floor also....I might enter the boat in the Wooden boat show here.... . and I can peel the tape off for the show.

Default Sand And Paint, Sand And Paint....

Seems like all I'm doing is Sanding and Painting......Using interlux 2 part Perfection Plus paint....Its not the Easiest to use, but the Hardest finish and Oh, so Shiny ....I finally had to rig up a Visquine enclosure..INside my enclosed car trailer...this paint is so Glossy, that one spec of Dust stands out like a #### in a Snow Field. ..

Wet Sanding to 400 between coats...this is coat 3 on bottom...It was just painted, it will lay down some more over the next 12 hours.

A few pictures. Its Coming along...I have the Sails and Mast all finished...just have to rig after paint.

Default New Pictures of Finished PDR with Paint and Varnish..

I finished the paint (2 part interlux perfection) and Varnish of the same. Some pictures show the Stub mast for the Windsurfer rig and The Blue mast is the Balanced lug rig.....Here are some
Pictures.....I did buff through a 5mm section of paint, right under the bow eye....But I found a Duck Dynasty Duck commander decal, gold that I put over the Defect...sshhh, don't tell no one . I placed some Carbon fiber Wrap vinyl over the Stub mast after the pictures were taken....I also used the CF wrap for the Boom and yard of the Lug rig .

Just stunning, magnificent work Mark. Well done! I'm a big fan of the Inter Perfection too, so easy to use and has the best gloss of any finish I've seen. You should send your pics to them!

Enjoy the sailing now, and don't stress when the inevitable scratch happens.

Hi Mark, I saw Bruces reply first - when you click on the main menu you go to the last post.

    So I saw his congratulations.

Then ... I looked up. Haha ... I couldn't stop laughing and smiling.

    It is completely gorgeous!

Can I steal for my nefarious commercial purposes?

    Congratulations!!!

Very impressive! The contrasting wood colours, paint and varnish are all looking brilliant. Look forward to seeing pictures of the boat on the water.

Default Here are some good pics...details of CB holder and boat.

Set up the lug sail today and adjusted the Centerboard Tension bungi....the Carbon fiber tube keeps it straight and lets the board "roll" up and down..I used some "Plasti Dip" on the ends of the CF tube so it won't chafe the bungi cord and used some clear paddleboard protective tape on the inside of the CB trunk, near the top to give it some gripe and keep it from scratching the board.

I also found a way to Tie down the boat to the trailer frame without having straps rub on the Paint...I went thru the CB trunk and placed a 2x4 on top for the ratchet....works really good. along with some cross straps on the rear, using the rudder pintles...it ain't going anywhere . I don't know why some images are rotated wrong??? Just 5 more things on my list and its DONE . I still haven't hooked up the Downhaul yet....I guess thats why the sail looks so Flat??? suggestions?

    Mark,

Does your builder friend want his name up? I would also like to link to his business from my website in an article I am writing for my website.

    Hi Mark,

I put a summary of what I thought on my website
Mark Milam’s spectacularly gorgeous wooden Duck – an OzRacer RV sailboat. Bubinga, and Cypress | Storer Boat Plans in Wood and Plywood

Can you send the link to your builder and see if he is happy with his mention near the links and slideshow at the bottom? I can change anything that he wants.

Also send him my best regards for an amazing boat that I (fairly quietly) didn't like at the beginning ... but he was right and I was ... too hasty!!!

The Builders name is Damien Strouse....He said you can put his name in the Article....He also said that Not one Fastener was used during the construction of the boat. He thought some may find that interesting. Then I got the boat un sanded and with epoxy coat and started the Finish part...which took Months . But it was Fun. .....kept me out of trouble .
