    Default Melbourne GIS Build

    Hi all,

I have recently embarked on a GIS build down here in Melbourne. Thanks Michael for the great design and assistance already elsewhere.

I've joined here for obvious reasons and thought I would introduce myself. The name is Ian and while I have plenty of boating and sailing under my belt, this is my first wooden boat build. My woodworking skills are modest at best, but I am loving the learning curve and the journey so far. I have a nice big (4 car) shed here in my backyard, so plenty of space to work with.

So far I have progressed from cutting shapes out of ply to starting to get the bulkheads built and hopefully going 3d in a few weeks. I have sourced most of the materials already with the exception of the spar stock.

Anyway, I have about a thousand questions to ask as I go so anyone's input will be welcomed, well received and much appreciated. I apologise in advance for the inevitable sillyness of at least some of them, but I will make an attempt to find the answers that I'm sure already reside here somewhere to eliminate as many as I can.

I will post a few progress shots here to date as soon as I get a chance and look forward to working my way through the brilliant resource of information here and getting to know everyone.

    Thanks and cheers,

    Ian

Welcome! And good luck. It's a great little boat.
I must warn you, traffic here is spotty these days. Many of the original contributors to this forum can still be found in the goat group on FB though.
It's lamentable, this Facebook migration, but it is what it is too. Just FYI.

Thanks Brian. And thanks for the heads-up. Yes, have been keeping an eye on the FB community also. Sign o' the times. Cheers.
