Hey AJ,
If you see santa ... you don't get any presents! You should go to bed pretty quickly!

Don't think I'll be getting presents next year either. Managed to fit most of the reindeer in the freezer though...
cheers

Howdy,
Sorry everyone .. am having huge problems getting net access.
Very limited time and very limited speed - one page is taking about 4 minutes to load. Hope I can sort something better out soon.
I'll try to get back here as often as possible.

Hi MIK!
Spooky! I was holidaying at Smith's Lake (and deciding to start sailing again after gazing at a Mirror, a repeatedly capsizing Laser <grin> and some Hobie Cats while sitting in "Frothy Coffee", the local boat hire/boathouse/coffee shop) around the time that you were over at Forster. It's a lovely neck of the woods up there.
Also had a nice time fishing (mostly undersized, Smith's is apparently fished out), some paddling in a horrible plastic kayak and being towed behind a motor boat on a rubber "blob" at circa 30 mph (I *didn't* come off :).
I also had a terrible time with Internet access, and blamed it on Vodafone: connection was mostly non-existant, and when latched, painfully slow, like watching paint dry, only *a lot* slower. Nice to know that I wasn't the only one! The phone side was out most of the time too, which was a problem for my employers as they were urgently trying to contact me (not so much for me - until I eventually found the delayed txt). I blame Telstra ;).
I found the GIS and the Oz woodworking forum, during one of the rare moments that the phone picked up the GPRS signal, whilst I was attempting to search (unsuccessfully, fortunately :) for Mirror & NS14 plans. I joined the forum right away, but decided to leave posting questions about the GIS until I got back to Sydney with broadband access and a real keyboard - the iPhone has its points, but typing one fingered has its limits. The GPS worked and was spot on, though.
In fact, the bad internet access may have led me to finding the GIS sooner rather than later, although you never really know.
Alex.

So all these modern communications methods (or the lack of them) have lead you here!
Every cloud has a silver lining.
I did get that the right way round didn't I?

Howdy,
Some of you are aware that my brother gave me a whole lot of frequent flyer points that have to be gotten rid of by the end of the month.
Well ... worked out what to do with them AND fix my internet access problem at the same time.
I am going to Taiwan for five weeks or maybe a bit longer. Will do some studying of Chinese which is fun ... take lots of pics of boats (and maybe put together some interviews if I can run into the right people)
But I will have a personal broadband connection for my whole stay .. which means better comms and more updating of the website and this forum. And paradoxically more time to work on my design stuff.
Be back in contact about the 28/29th. And may be able to check my email in transit.

Think its going to be a waste of time building boats if this heat keeps on, all the water in the rivers & lakes will evaporate!!!
