Christophe may join with his Sea Pearl. I'm hoping he can make it.

Hope is not a method! C222, we have home roast coffee, home brewed beer, home made bread. Do I have to home distill my own rum? What if I churn butter on site?!?

And what of Clint Chase? Did SRR wear you out? There is room for your kids next to the others.

Do we want to get together and figure out the menu?

It's only 2 nights and three days so it shouldn't be too complicated and might save triple-packing and overlap. I'm coming by myself and none of my camping dishes are for less than 4, most feed 8.

Well, I had thought everyone would just bring their own food for simplicity's sake. But if you're offering up a meal, go for it. I'm wheat free these days so I can't help with macaroni or biscuits or breaded things or gravies thickened with flour. But rice, hash browns, corn are all fair game.

Anyone else want to share their culinary skills?

I agree that the general idea should be "every man for himself". Much too complicated otherwise.

I just spent Labor Day weekend feeding a houseful of people which included 2 vegetarians, two Jews who keep kosher, one person who can't have onions, one who can't have chocolate, one who can't have salt, and two who are currently gluten-free. I'd rather not go down that road again soon. No, sir.

That said, I'm bringing extra of a few things to share with whomever wishes to partake.

One of the things I'm bringing to share is beer. I did check the NYS Parks rules and regs to make sure that is allowed. Many CT state parks do NOT allow alcohol, even at camp sites. NY seems unconcerned. I like this enlightened attitude.

However, in the process of checking that, I stumbled onto a page which seems to say that the Cayuga Lake State Park boat ramp closes on 9/1. It's possible that this does not apply to campers, or that it is just wrong. Dave - did the park tell you we could use the ramp late in the month? Should I place a call?

Paul, good catch! I hadn't seen that. Please do call and confirm and/or determine if hand carry from the beach is ok. I was chatting with Patrick and we wondered if beaching the boats would be permitted as well as anchoring and/or mooring.

Certainly the ramp will impact Leigh with his Bolger; that's NOT a hand carry vessel.

Whoa! No wonder I never invite anyone over.

FWIW, I'm a recovering vegetarian, non-kosher Jew that craves onions, chocolate, salt and wheat products. I'll bring my own

And who needs a dock to launch a GIS?

The boat ramp is open and will remain so past the weekend of the 26th.

The woman on the phone said that there should be no problem booking additional sites on the same credit card, should we need to.

She also said that the "electric" (i.e., with plugs for RVs) sites, like the ones we already booked, go fast but that the tent sites will never fill this late in the season. I, personally, will have a tent and backup batteries for my phone and will have no need to plug anything in anywhere. So if we do need another site and can't get a nearby "electric", I can move to a tent site elsewhere.

I totally forgot to ask about leaving the boats beached. Sorry. Crazy busy work day today, but I'll see if I have time to call back later.

Good work Paul. How bad would this have sucked if our access to the water was denied?!?

Just a bump to remind everyone to hope for the best but prepare for the worst. Wet weather gear, fleece, sunscreen, zombie repellent...

There is a restriction on bringing firewood from afar so don't do it. But we ought to be able to gather and/or buy local firewood. We WILL need fire.

Yes. I'm camping in North Adams, MA this coming weekend, then in Seneca Falls the next. Looking at mid-40s by morning in both places. Bring your warmer sleeping bags.

The lake should still be warm from the summer. But if you were thinking about capsize recovery practice, a wetsuit would not be a bad idea.

Firewood should be available from at the park office. They REALLY don't want you moving bugs into the parks around here.
