I'm pretty sure Perttu wrote: "The boat is meant to be sailed with the hatch shut. If she is capsized, you should have enough time to turn the boat upright again before cabin fills with water" In the description for the Ocean Explorer... oh wait, he did.

Well I'm glad you didn't lose the boat! Do you have reading materials for learning how to sail?

By the way, hilarious story. It means you are getting out there and having fun and sailing! The best kind of fun, capsize or not.

I knew I should have had the cabin closed up. It just never crossed my mind this morning. I'm confident we could have been back in and going again within a couple of minutes if I'd shut it. The boat was still pretty buoyant in the stern, I could have crawled in. We got it towed to shore and had a good workout bailing away. Amazeing how much stuff can float out of a capsized boat....favorite Bass Proshop coffee cup, chapstick, empty pop cans, candy wrappers, paddle etc.....

I did download "Sailing for Dummies", on the kindle, I guess I should take the time to read it.

The plans were absolutely a pleasure to use. Every measure, angle, and detail were clear and spot on. I probably spent too much time playing with the 3-D model, it was a lot of fun!
This is a spectacular boat. When I get started on and complete my PDGoose this winter, I will be considering building the Ooze Goose, but I don't know if I will be able to build anything like yours. Congrats!
