The VERY nice thing is the boat was built and basic paintjob done in Canada by Rick Landreville. But the Maple leaf added by Andy Linn in the USA.
What a gent.

Here is a video of the OozeGoose sailing in the Texas 200.
She has 2 people on board with 1 week of camping supplies.

The other Ooze Gooze is being debugged. He's not quite happy with the way the sail is setting yet ... but from the video you can see the boat is moving right along.

Hi, silly question time if you had a balanced lug for a mizzen could you sheet it from the front of the boom so you didn't need any controls outboard?

Novel idea ... I like the thinking behind it.
I think the problems would be that
1/ you would be working at a mechanical disadvantage - so would probably need a multi purchase sheet system.
2/ the sheet forces would tend to twist the sail more rather than reduce twist ... hmmm unless you pulled the sheet UPWARDS ... then it would still cancel some of the twist.

Ok so what if you use a vang downhaul but set it up more like a sheet, maybe like a short piece tied off to two points along the boom with the downhaul running free on it, that takes care of the tension and twist and is free to rotate with the boom, and then like GIR you were on for the Texas have the boom stick through a foot (can't remember if this was the original set up or Texas set up) John in one video was using it to stear in to dock, then you could have two small sheets set up maybe going back to the corners of the transom? so you could set it in reverse ROFL or maybe have them go to another tiller (might be getting a bit over complicated)

Yes ... it is the complication that always is the killer of many otherwise nice ideas!

Thank you Perttu for such an awesome boat! Hope you guys don't mind me revisiting a topic touched upon earlier in the thread. I was wondering what are some of the solutions possible to allow the 'Goose to be single masted. I would love to be able to use a yuloh and cut down weight and complexity. I've noticed distance difference between the mast and centerboard are not too far off between the Ocean explorer and the 'Goose. Is it feasible to move the centerboard 6 to 12 inches forward? I wouldn't mind loosing a bit of cabin space. Any suggestions would be appreciated, I'm on the fence deciding which boat to build. I know you have worked long and hard to come up with the optimum balance between usable cabin space and performance and in no way is it my intention to insult your design.
Thanks.

Howdy,
The problem with the Goose version was that the centreboard or the mast would have to be moved more into the cabin to allow for a single sail.
We didn't want to move to a leeboard because it makes the boat harder to right from capsize.
Good question though!

Wow, such a speedy response!
What do you think about adding dual cases?
Then I could have the option of running single or dual leeboards and in the case of a capsize I could move the leeboard to the appropriate side to right her.
Would there be any doom or gloom predicted with this modification? I think this might also get the leeboard into the single sails center of area.

No reason why someone shouldn't experiment. But the great thing about your sketch is that you can see some of the problems that forced us in the other direction.

Awesome, Mik you made it an easy decision to go with the Goose plans. I can't wait to get started!
Thanks again.
