| |  PDR Racer State Titles???
Hi All
Need some motivation to get back building the PD Racer, have recently acquired the materials to finish said boat. 
So is this something that we should or could look at? Are the next Aussie Titles being discussed?
Do we know how many boats are in say Vic, SA, NS....now? |

So not really enough for state get togethers, thats a shame.
But I've managed to motivate myself, I have a sheet of marine ply in the lounge room as we speak, I've run out bits and pieces to make a batten for drawing the curves, so I'll get something tomorrow to do that, and finish cutting all the bits out, then there might be a house move and baby, but thats a month away yet, so I might put it together before all hell breaks loose.
Soooo, what about the next Australian Championships? or is it the Worlds this time? Same place, same time, or something else?

I have the plans (free set for being a proofreader)
I have the T Shirt (given to me by a bloke who bought the plans & a couple of shirts)
I've joined the local Wooden Boat Association (twisted arm)
I have a couple of sheds full of tools (going rusty)
All I need is the.....  wood?

Ha,
Guys, Guys, Guys - you don't know how much fun it is having even two of these little critters on the same piece of water on the same day. And more and more plans are being sold in both Australia and the USA with a smattering in other corners.
Midge and I were trying to think of formats for low key racing when only two boats were available and came up with the idea of a round robin type event where each person gets a coloured ribbon and the resullts and updates are posted on a blackboard in the shoreside BBQ area. Keep the races really short and have a heap of them.
People can see that Red is racing Green and that Green and Bloe are at the top of the rankings so far for the day.
Midge and I usually race against each other round the island in the Mooloola River - it takes between half and a full hour. Or just try to break the record round the island if there is no=one to sail the second boat.
It is about having a good play on the water.
As a mind expansion exercise (I'm not being perjorative here - it operated that way for me) have a look at my latest update of the OZ PDR Blog http://pdracer.blogspot.com/
There is an podcast interview with Shorty Routh - the initiator of the class - it really reminded my very nicely of the real reasons to be involved in this boating lark. The other thing is that there is a video of Shorty doing the sail that won him the endurance record at that time.
Excellent!
Lots of the records are pretty acheivable for boats of OZ PDR calibre. One of you will definitely be able to break my world speed record!
As far as a nationals goes, maybe it is possible to work out somewhere where a few of us can get to. If we even have two or three or seven boats and have more sailors than boats then we can use a round robin system and keep it all friendly.
Or as friendly as we can!!!!  )

Hi Mik
I'm not trying to make them a racing class as such. But was thinking it would a good way for people to get together and show off their PDR's. I agree having another one to muck around with would be good, and mini races with more would be heaps of fun.
I'd certainly like to see a few of us hit the water, maybe SA and VIC could get together somewhere, QLD and NSW could also?

You know the one - the blokes all line up at the start before the race and then line up at the club bar and brag about it after over copious quantities of amber fluid.
Francis Herreshoff once said that Civility went out of racing when women and children were excluded from racing.
I think the same thing happened when coleslaw was excluded but to a much more damaging level
As far as racing goes I foresee lots of BBQs with coleslaw and lots of people of all genders and ages being semi serious about the racing with the occasional hotshot appearing and trying to blitz the fleet.
If they do too well they will have to carry a child or two ) or they can be allowed to do too well by the others.
And everyone goes home a winner!!!
