My pics from the Goolwa Wooden Boat show 2011
It was a really nice show.
We dropped stuff down and then arrived early on Saturday to set up
I think the free admission fee meant lots of fresh and interested people came in and it made it an easy decision for old friends to roll up too.
Also felt like a bit of celebration that the river was full of water again. The set on flickr is here Goolwa Wooden Boat Show 2011 - a set on Flickr
We had the Eureka, the part completed Eureka with sailing rig (thanks Mike) and the PDR out of my range. But a bunch of different boats including oughtred and david payne. Nice show.
Ione from 1888
Restricted 21s just after crossing the finish line

Thank's for posting the pics, they really help keep the motivation going to get back in the shed. Crawford

I'll add some sample pics hope they are interesting.
It was difficult to capture all the boats what with the number of onlookers and the number of entrants 250 plus.
While I didn't get to do anything like the amount of things I intended it was fantastic event, congratulations to the organisers.
First one is for Daddles a nice Yellowtail

Mike , that "261" design looks familiar.
Any way of making contact with the owner ?.

It looks to me like it hasn't a tabernackle , and I'd like to know how they have tackled other areas of the boat too.
Hopefully someone will pipe up with more info.

What? No Mundoo?
Maybe that's a different river system? But, hey... it's Australia! How far could it be?
Seriously, though. I certainly enjoyed the fotos, and wish I'd been there, instead of here. It's cold, rainy, and snowy here.

Well Portland Vic. today is cold , maybe 12 C , with a very cold wind , but it doesn't snow.
But I've been to Portland Oregon for 3 years running in your summer , and it was very nice.

Oregon is very nice in the Summer. Even in the Fall. Ask Mik if he had fun boating here. Three years running? Must be business travel. Would you have time to go sailing if you come again?

If I went there again , yes , I'd certainly go sailing , but its unlikely.
Your rivers are magnificent , and the beaches , well beaches like Del Ray are perfect for boating .
And training horses.

Rob,
You were in my old stomping grounds. I grow up in Astoria... just north of there, and where we took Mik to see the maritime museum. Some good sailing at the mouth of the Columbia.

The Columbia is an impressive river , and to know its history is even more impressive , the way the early settlers tried to raft down it.
Another interesting thing , there is a river that bubbles out of the ground right near the Sheep Springs Horse Camp in the Deschutes National Park .
The name of the river escapes me for now , but its very old glacial water.
