    Default Plans

Hi Folks, I will order my plans for the GIS tomorrow and was thinking to get the paper plans because I think I've read somewhere that they come with an instruction book( I can take it to work to read).
Do you think this is good idea, or should I just get the digital plans and print what I need?
Trying to save as much money as possible!!
    Thanks.

The plans on paper and the PDF emailed plans are identical.

The PDF plan is the cheap option. The paper plan takes more time and organisation, so it costs more.

    Best wishes

Thanks Micheal, I think I will go with the paper plans- I don't have to open the computer etc all the time. Bit of an analog kind of bloke!
    Regards, Brad.

    No worries.

The idea with the PDF plans is you get them instantly (plus) but you have to print them out yourself (minus).

    Hi Brad

Great catching up with you the other week and good to hear you've taken the plunge and got the plans! It will be wonderful to have another Goat on Lake Macquarie soon.

Having said that, after we had chatted we headed out to Valentine and launched there. We had a wonderful sail and could not believe there were only a handful of sailing boats out on such a glorious day.

Hakuna Matata certainly attracted a lot of attention there. One bloke even said he'd seen another one just like it not long ago, so I wonder if there is another GIS lurking around here?

Hi Woodeneye, I drive past all the time & come home and say to my wife
"there was no one out there!" I don't think she believes me. I'm glad you got to show it to your brother. For anyone who doesn't know what we are talking about, it is Lake Macquarie NSW Australia. Biggest salt water lake in the southern hemisphere. 4.2 times the size of Sydney harbour.
It was great to meet you and see your boat- it certainly is a credit to MIK's design. It's one thing to see pictures, but seeing it in the flesh was the clincher!
I think you are still OS, but when you want to, come & have a look at this boat trailer I've got.
    Kind Regards,
    Brad.

    Bruce,

That "other" boat might have been my Ladybug.I have been launching from there for a while & often have people come up & talk.

There are some similarities in the appearance that could be mistaken by a casual observer.

There is at least one Green Island Skiff in the area also,so it could be him.

    Nice to see the connection!

With the local chap who saw one "just like it" ... I think it might be similar to my days as a cycle tourist. If you ever get advice that one way is better because there are fewer hills from a non cyclist local ... they are probably wrong.

I wouldn't completely discount it though. I know a few years ago Leigh Hemmings who has the first NSW goat used to take it up there with his kids for camping. but his kids are probably in their 20s now.

It could be a goat, but it is possible it could be a topsail schooner.

    All good fun though!

    Yes Mik,

There are a number of recently completed wooden boats of various designs around here that I know of from this forum & others.

    A get-together is on my "to do"list.

Yes, I hadn't thought of your boat! I'm pretty sure that he was talking about yours then.

Could have been. Seemed like he was there a lot.
