Pretty much done, just have to work out how the lacing finishes at the bottom of the sail, the down haul, and the main sheet routing and how it's supposed to work. The snotter is the only thing that is right at the moment.

Your downhaul looks pretty close. You just have to tighten it up a bit more, Do this before you tighten the snotter. It will cause a nice deep crease on the leading edge of the sail. Then tighten the snotther and this will give the sail shape.

I think the plan explains how you should be lacing the foot of the sail. Rigging guide

    Going sailing this weekend?

No sailing this weekend unfortunately, I have to work. I am trying to get everything sorted for camping the ANZAC day weekend, I am going to take it to Moogerah dam along with the eureka.

    Default first sail

    Hi all

I have been away with work for a while and finally got back to sail the PDR for the first time. I went with a mate and the family up to Moogerah Dam. I was a bit disappointed as there was no wind at all, so I just bobbed around on the water like a cork most of the time. I had no idea what the hell to do and there was a tangle of legs, ropes and tiller extension most of the time. I did get a couple of puffs of wind so it wasn't all lost I guess. The water skiers and jet-skiers must have loved the boat because they kept circling me, I think they were trying to sink me. I will have to try again with a windier day.

I am thinking about my next project, but I am running out of room. I would like to build the GIS but would like something a little bit smaller, that looks like the goat.

    Col,

They may have just been trying a venturi effect, to get some wind up for you

Started my PDR - will see you on the water one day.

Thought about Cootharaba? Last two times I went there to kayak, it was blowing hard - a sail would have been great. Better than pushing into it with paddle power.

We wanted to go to Cootharaba but being a long weekend there was no guarantee of a campsite. First in best dressed because they don't take bookings for some reason. I will likley head to Redcliffe or Shorncliffe when I get a chance, It is only 10 minutes away. I will give you a race when you are finished, it should be done for the hot months right?

    Col,

    Hot months.

That is the plan. However if I finish by July, it can be a birthday present to self.

Water cold - no - we're Queenslanders mate!!!! (Read - shriek like a girl and go and get a latte).

Re. Cootharaba, i normally go to Elanda Point rather than the council one at at at Boreen Point? - where the pub is - I keep wanting to say Banora, but that's down the Coast. Pretty big grounds and never missed out at Elanda.

Will be in contact when I'm finished and we'll organize a regatta - which I can assure you, you are going to win.

    John
