Default Seven Months in the Philippines 2013

    Philippines 2013

Well, I've been here for a week. First in Manila then my new town of Malvar.

I'll be setting up a new little venture with my partner Edna.

    More about that later.

Malvar is about an hour and a bit out of Manila. It is a small town off to the side of the newish tollway that links the ocean town of Batangas to the capital. Not so near the ocean here but only 7km from Ta'al lake which is pretty big with a resting volcano in the middle of it.

The pinoy boat building group sails from a sailing club at the lake too.

The big advantages of the town are the number of skilled textile workers and textile infrastructure as well as being on the transport routes. That Edna knows the local Barangay (section of town) captain is great too.

Internet has been a bit tricky this time. Just this very moment got my laptop and phone

So moved into a little house by the old main road and have space to do some other projects.

Assuming that's the view from your house I expect that volcano is named Goat Island.

Looks beautiful Mik. Well, we could very well have a name for a future Storer boat. Volcano. Hehe, the volcano even has a reverse bow. Going for a blast around the Lake anytime soon?

    v-12?

Actually the view is an aerial one ... I'm about 7km away (4 and a bit miles).

But just so you know the nearest sailing area.

The other main one is Batangas which is full sized town on the coast - it ranges from a port and urban area to beaches and resorts.

You can see hints of the heavy urbanisation in the background of this shot. But foreground would look nice with a sailboat on it!

And not too far away around the coast ...

    I'm learning too

You will not have enough time to see all of that properly. Such fun.
