Stand up Paddling.
When we were on holiday this year one of our camping neighbours was armed with three windsurfers and two massive stand up paddle boards. I say massive because he had to buy the biggest available in Germany as he stands 206cm tall but they still weren't big enough. They make boards in the US big enough but the costs are unrealistic once you get them to Germany. After seeing the Eureka he was immediately on my case about the possibility of building a stand up board or SUP for those in the clique. He sent me a couple of links yesterday. The first is here Building a Wooden Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) with plans to build different size wooden boards and the other is a gallerie site in OZ here Stand Up Paddle - Seabreeze Photo Gallery.
The board finished up weighing 60lbs (28kg) but like he said he could have left out the foam and I think with the right materials the weight could be reduced.
Maybe an opening Michael .
Cheers, Kev.

I think Mik could design it to be under 20 lbs. I found a site that sells plans for paddle boards made from okoume weighing 29 lbs. But they incase it in fiberglass.

Yes, it would be interesting to build a Storer SUP.
This sport is getting very fashionable in my country (Hungary). Paddleboards are excellent for exploring swamps, small rivers or lakes. There are three Hungarian guys (father + 2 sons) who paddled through the Danube river recently (from Black Forest to Black Sea, 2000 kms in 38 days) on SUP Boards.

Cheers Kev!
It does seem very heavy!
The plywood sailboard I designed in the early 90s with Menno van Doorn was 12kg - and quite thick. Just in 4mm gaboon ply.
