Default Excellent Advice From a Billionaire!

Steve Jobs Died a billionaire at age 56. This is his final essay:

I reached the pinnacle of success in the business world. In some others' eyes, my life is the epitome of success. However, aside from work, I have little joy. In the end, my wealth is only a fact of life that I am accustomed to. At this moment, lying on my bed and recalling my life, I realize that all the recognition and wealth that I took so much pride in have paled and become meaningless in the face of my death.

You can employ someone to drive the car for you, make money for you but you cannot have someone bear your sickness for you. Material things lost can be found or replaced. But there is one thing that can never be found when it's lost - Life. Whichever stage in life you are in right now, with time, you will face the day when the curtain comes down.

Treasure love for your family, love for your spouse, love for your friends. Treat yourself well and cherish others. As we grow older, and hopefully wiser, we realize that a $300 or a $30 watch both tell the same time. You will realize that your true inner happiness does not come from the material things of this world. Whether you fly first class or economy, if the plane goes down - you go down with it.

Therefore, I hope you realize, when you have mates, buddies and old friends, brothers and sisters, who you chat with, laugh with, talk with, sing songs with, talk about north-south-east-west or heaven and earth, that is true happiness! Don't educate your children to be rich. Educate them to be happy. So when they grow up they will know the value of things and not the price. Eat your food as your medicine, otherwise you have to eat medicine as your food.

The One who loves you will never leave you for another because, even if there are 100 reasons to give up, he or she will find a reason to hold on. There is a big difference between a human being and being human. Only a few really understand it. You are loved when you are born. You will be loved when you die. In between, you have to manage!

The six best doctors in the world are sunlight, rest, exercise, diet, self-confidence and friends .
Maintain them in all stages and enjoy a healthy life."
To grow old is mandatory, growing up is optional.

May I add Warren Buffett's advice to all young adults,

House, Spouse, Car - Keep them all the same.

It was basically on how to retire wealthy. After a very rocky start in my teens, I can say that it works, within reason.

It's appropriate that this is in the jokes section because Steve Jobs did not write this

I am happy and have life sorted. I have 3 bottles in the kitchen, a good greek ouzo, a passable single malt and a liter of kahlua.

That's about as philosophical as I get.

The advice about friends and family is easy, and it's correct of course. But there's a lot more to happiness than this.
The older I get the more I realise most people don't really know what makes them happy, they just benchmark themselves off the people they see around them and on TV and assume that if they do the same they'll be happy.
Finding what makes you happy is not easy, it takes a while, and when you find it it's not always what you thought it'd be.
And sometimes it's incredibly expensive, like free time.

When I was a broke student in greece we used to get drunk on ouzo... pretty much the worst hangover ever, but it did the job pretty quickly and cheaply.

Back in the day in Northern Italy, you could by a litre of red wine for $0.15 and get back $0.05 on the bottles deposit. By contrast, a can of Coke was $1.00.

Needless to say, we were drunk a lot of the time!

I thought South Italy is for drinking and North is for making Fiat and Lancia

But don't Fiat and Lancia recruit from the south?

I don't get hangovers. In fact if I have been drinking heavily I usually feel better than normal the next day. It's getting to sleep that's a challenge...

My brother didn't get hangovers either, his answer was to stay drunk
Actually, he used to drink Rum and Coke but he got crook, so he turned to Johny Walker and Coke, still got crook, so he went onto Scotch and Coke but he still got crook.
So he now drinks it straight, without the Coke, as it was the only common demominator.
