The frog in the pond
A frog is sitting on a small island in the centre of a pond.
From the island it is 7 metres to the edge of the pond.
If the frog can jump 1 metre with its first jump and then each subsequent jump is half of the previous jump, how many jumps will it take for the frog to reach the edge of the pool?

What pool? Oh, I see theres a pool somewhere in the vicinity of the pond, well then it really depends on how far away the pool is from the pond, not forgetting the poor wee frog is going to need lillies or something to jump on (while getting from his little island to the edge of the pond before he hits solid ground), otherwise he will be swimming and thats a whole other answer then.....

As we all know the frog will never reach the pond pool or land edge.
The water will leak into the mechanical frog, wetting the electronics and rendering it useless. As Al has pointed out the universally accepted time limit for this is around 15 minutes give or take a degree or two.Boring signature time again!

The frog will never make 2 metres, let alone 7 metres. Having arrived at 1 metre, it will then proceed to jump half way to the 2 metre target, then half the balance, then half the balance then................................ You get the picture.

A scientist was interested in studying how far bullfrogs can jump. He brought a bullfrog into his laboratory, set it down, and commanded, "Jump, frog, jump!"
The frog jumped across the room.
The scientist measured the distance, then noted in his journal, "Frog with four legs - jumped eight feet."
Then he cut the frog's front legs off. Again he ordered, "Jump, frog, jump!"
The frog struggled a moment, then jumped a few feet.
After measuring the distance, the scientist noted in his journal, "Frog with two legs - jumped three feet."
Next, the scientist cut off the frog's back legs. Once more, he shouted, "Jump, frog, jump!"
The frog just lay there.
"Jump, frog, jump!" the scientist repeated.
Nothing.
The scientist noted in his journal, "Frog with no legs - lost its hearing."
It only takes one drink to get me loaded. Trouble is, I can't remember if it's the thirteenth or fourteenth.
