I flew a lot between Los Angeles and San Francisco. I would normally rent a car from Avis that was a 'Whatever with air conditioning'. This one time I had to have a larger vehicle as I was going to shuttle 4 customers about. I told the counter people that I needed a larger car and price was no problem.

The counter girl claimed that they just didn't have a large car available due to some convention. I looked her in the eye and said, "My girl friend just got a roommate and she didn't like hotel rooms." The counter girl started laughing and said "Give me 5 minutes.". She disappeared and about 15 minutes later she walks in the front door with the keys to a large Oldsmobile. She said that the car was scheduled to go to the used car sales lot but Avis could rent the car one more time. The Oldsmobile, in spite of about 80,000 miles of rental car use was sparkling clean.

The really funny thing was that after that rental, a Cadillac was always waiting for me when I went to San Francisco.
