Missing Steps
Hi,
I was playing with my machine and the X/A axises started losing steps and I have no idea why.
What are the most probable causes ?
I have tried slowing down the speed and acceleration to no avail

What is the setup on your motors? IE how are the screws connected up? Belts? Direct?
Also, check all electrical connections from the motors back to the BOB.Bob Willson

over loading of power supply ,
getting a voltage drop when all 3 motors are running
rare on the 5 volt bob ,unless powered buy USB ,and lots of USB things hanging off the PC
could also happen on the stepper driver power supply , one motor will run fine , but stall when 3 are running, larger amps draw on a axis ?
where's the photo'show come a 10mm peg dont fit in a 10mm hole

Found out eventually what my problem was, too much tension on the pinion drive. It took a while because my PC died and I had to find another. My boss had an old dual core, so I installed a new HDD and set it up with Win XP and all the required software. We also had shutdown at work for the last 3 weeks so I didn't get much time in the shed. I have just got my settings close to where I had them before and now am tuning the motors. All the old settings went when the old PC crashed. I will be writing them down just in case

Your acceleration is very high. I suggest that you drop it to 100 and then go up from there until you lose steps again, then back off 20% again.
I would also drop the velocity to about 3000. I can't remember ever going over about 2500mm a minute on my machine.
Anyway, try it and see what happens.Bob Willson

Serves you right for using explorer. Upgrade to Firefox and you won't have those problems.

Got a chance to play in the shed today and made some adjustments, I got things working but woody still needs some fine tuning
I made the sides for a Bow Maker (jig for making bows for my wife's craft)
I also had a go at some text
