New to CNC. 1st machine?
G'day,
I went to the woodworking show in Sydney on the weekend with my father and brother. We saw the Shark pro in action and we are interested in a cnc machine. Would this be a good machine to start out on? What are the pro's and cons of this machine?
I also found these German ones on ebay. Would this be a better investment?

We are keen to try and make all sorts of things from trophy shields and signs to maybe trying rifle stocks in the future.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks guys

Personally i would prefer to look into the german cnc-step machines as they are decently made, however import taxes and shipping alone will cost around 1-2k i would think to cover insurance etc.
As it sounds like your not looking at building a machine, best bang for your buck, i would speak with companies such as multicam or gravograph who may have older model machines around the same price your looking and more importantly ebay as there have been some machines that may be useful for what your after.

G'day BucKshot, I have just spent the past year researching desk top cnc's, from the chinese ebay ones to the almost infinite models available in the US. I was on a tight budget but wanted the best bang for my buck. I ended up with a machine called Romaxx out of Michigan, I am in no way associated with them by the way, The machine arrived a fortnight ago and I am doing basic stuff on it already. The build quality is first class and so are the electronics. Nice to be able to ring the guy who built it and ask him questions as well. Ron, the owner has been very helpful with a couple of software issues I encountered. With the Aussie dollar so strong at the moment might be another one to throw in the hat, good luck, Cheers Paul.
