    Default CNC Machine Problems

    Hi All,

New to this part of the forum. Have almost finished building my 2.4mx1.2 metre rig but having some troubles. Using Nema23 380oz 3.5A with the G540.

Im running ballscrews on all axis (x,y,z) with one on each side of the x axis. They are Chinese/Malaysian ones from linearmotionbearings(ebay).

Im not having any troubles when running them forward but in reverse they seem to keep "binding" up.

Ive tried tightening the nuts on the end of the ballscrew but still experiencing the same issue. When i run the machine super slow it doesn't happen but still isn't very smooth. Not sure if greasing it all up well will help (also what grease should i be using)

    Thanks All,

    Ben

    Hi Ben

how are you driving the X axis? Are you using one stepper to drive both ball screws? If you disconnect the stepper motor and the gantry from the X axis ball nuts, are you able to turn each ball screw without any binding in both directions? Could it be the ball screws are misaligned to each other?

    Hi Ben,

Check also the wiring connector on the stepper and the driver. I had the following concern with one axis on my machine. It was running quiet good in one direction and strugle in the other. I spent a lot of time to discover this junky connection one one single wire .
