CNC router for aluminium and steel sheet?
I've been looking at options for machining aluminium panels for desktop amplifier cases and similar electronics builds and it was suggested that I look into CNC routers. The 6040 model Chinese routers on eBay look decent for the cost, but I'm not sure how easily they handle aluminium as this will be the primary material used.
And would they be able to drill or slot into 1mm steel sheet, if feeding reeealy slowly?

Hi mate,
For doing your aluminium panels the CNC would be fantastic. Have a look at some examples of panel in these two posts (I'm sure there are more if you search through the forum)

Hi again,
The CNC router is looking pretty good right now. I asked the eBay seller about cutting steel too, but he wasn't sure it could, thought it would be too hard, which is what I was expecting. I can deal with not being able to mill steel.
Getting one of the 60x40 routers off eBay looks like a good option, it would get me set up quickly.
