I machined up a mounting plate, to suit my stepper motor, for the actuator I will be using for my Z Axis. Fits like a glove.

I'm not sure if I'll be getting too much done for the next couple of weeks, as I'll be off to Perth in a few days and then Christmas stuff may keep me out of the shed.

    Coming along nicely John.
Those actuators can have some strange bolt configurations sometimes. I had one recenlty where the actuator bolt holes were 0.1mm off centre. You couldn't pick it and when I cut the motor adapter it wasn't centred.
I think you should take a few days off work before you leave so you can get stuck into it.
    Cheers,
    Rod

Hi Rod, I'm waiting to inspect Morphy to lock in ideas before going any further

Yikes! It's been two years since I started this thread and one year since I did any work on my machine.

2010 has been a pretty crappy year all-round which has kept my attention away from anything CNC. I am hoping to get back into my build in 2011 and get it finished.

For the time being I have some reading to catch on with all the posts that I have missed.

    Gidday John,
You have been gone fishing for a long time.
All the best of the season to you and hope to see some progress soon.
    Cheers,
    Rod

There was strange sound in my shed today and a path of silver splinters in the house carpet.

    Nice bit of milling.
Glitter is a permanent state over here - just get a carpet that works well with the swarf.
    Cheers,
    Rod

    Ok, some progress at last

I've made up the box to mount on the Gantry rails that spindle will attach too.

    And now with Spindle mounted.

I still need to put some side plates on to protect the actuator some more and make the Z more rigid.

    Hi John,
I like to see the nice crisp lines of fresh milling. Your machine is looking good and you now have most of the hard bits done so it shouldn't be too long now. You certainly have hit the ground running this time.
    Cheers,
    Rod

What is the consensus on the best limit switches to use?

I thought I had bought some 12 Months ago but they are not in my box of CNC goodies.
