a new design cutter called drag knife
I setup the new drag knife from donektools.com
,its 1/2 shank goes in the router
collet or spindle takes standard box knife blades
this model the D2 will cut up to
1/4 materials.
Programmed the cut using aspire
and
calling it a 1/64 end mill and ramping it in 1 inch for the cut
You can contact Sean Martin ([email protected]) for more info or me
using donektools drag knife on thin plastic ,trial runs - YouTube
still trying the donek darg knife, fits the router collet set up in aspire
as a 1/64 end mill and selecting the ramp feature to introduce the cutter
into the material .
I still want to try many other naterials and possibly
try other programming techniques in aspire

Thicker vinyl and gasket material would be nice to see, can always find someone wanting to replace old gaskets on headers etc.

a pause in my tests
I will have to pause a bit in my testing ,seems ther is a way to program the knife lifting a bit to get proper orientation on complex cuts ie inlays or fonts ,it involves using a macro form excel ito the toolpath ---I never knew soemthing like that could be done .
So i am back in the reading learning mode for awhile.
but i have bought some material for testing

donektools drag knife cutting plastic .03 thick - YouTube
this is the d2 drag knife which can cut up to .25 in material,it looks
like a simple concept but its not take it from me ,there is a lot of
programming thought went into the use of it ,as you need to run a macro
in excel to make some changes to your toolpath in order for the knife to
have its proper orientation
