Double Trouble CnC Nearly Finished
Hi All,
Been lurking around here for a while now and thought it was about time I posted some pics of the two new CnC Routers a friend and myself have been building for several months. We are nearing completion and have had the machines do some test cuts.
These MM's are truly a nice build and well worth the effort.
If you have any questions post away and I will try to answer as best I can.

They look amazing
What module rack did you use and what gear reduction do you have going there?

We are using the Mod1 Rack with PK296A2A-SG7.2 stepper motors and 30 tooth pinions.

I am impressed with level of detail you have gone to - the finishing off.
It makes a huge difference and indicates how much care has gone into the construction.
I have just finished looking at your coolant system and again your design and components are first class.
These definately have the wow factor.Cheers,
Rod

Been watching the progress on mechmate and your machines are very well built and the extras you have are great. You have really set the bar over in the mechmate forums.
The little LED off the ESTOPs you added to show which one triggered, have you you got a quick and dirty schematic to show how it is wired on each as it is something i would like to add to my machine.

E-Stop LED wiring
Hi Daniel
Sorry about the delay but been very busy.
So let's begin
We have wired our control box with both +12 and +5. As the E-stop buttons have both a NC (Normally Closed) and NO (Normally Open) connectors and Mach3 E-stop circuit is wired to the NC connector that way if a wired is cut/unplug the E-stop is detected and stops the Machine. ie the NC becomes open and the NO becomes closed. As we are not using the NO connectors we wired a LED and 100 ohm resistor between the +5 volt and ground with the NO connectors acting as the switch. As this circuit is local to each control Box only that LED light will light that has the E-stop button pushed.
Regards

Simple yet very effective, i thought it would be something like the NC contacts but just wanted to see if you used DC or ran a AC emergency with neon. which i spose wont be much different.
Thanks heaps and hope your machine is running well.

Now fully Under Mach3 Control !!
After a few communication issues trying to integrate and control under Mach3 we are now up and running
Here are a couple of little video clips showing Mach3 control and a trial air cut.
All appears to be absolutely rock solid now !!

As you are from Brisbane, what was the total cost for one of these? I assume all the parts were imported?

Hi,
Cost of the build will vary depending on the quality of the parts used and your patience to shop around for the best possible deals. Most of the parts used on these builds were of a better quality with a total cost for all materials including operating and design software being approx $12k Hope that helps you.
Cheers

Hi all,
I have been kinda busy with work and also with my wood turning so the cnc has been sitting idle. However I gave it a bit of a shake up and dust off on the weekend and had it cut me out a nice little Harley Davidson Motor Cycle shield out of some old pine I had kicking around. It came up looking reasonably good
Thanks for looking
Cheers
