inlays
hello everyone
iv been messing around with the idea of trying to do some inlays
i was wondering what would be the optium depth to cut an inlay with some that has a resonable amount of detail
i tried 3 mm got a bout half way thru and pulled up think it was going to be way too deep
ned kelly.png this is the image in question that i tried, perhaps i am aiming way too high for a rank amateur like my self
my idea is to put inlays into endgrain chopping boards
any feed back would be greatly appreciated
cheers Tony

He does alot of inlays into his end grain chopping boards. Looks like his inlay depth is about 6-10mm deep.

You'll want something fairly thick to handle chopping board abuse, I'd say 3mm isn't nearly enough.
6-10mm sounds good
