Laser Engraver Purchase
Hi All,
I am looking to purchase a laser engraver and was wondering if anyone on here has any suggestions as too what to purchase. I would be mainly using it for wood and plastic's but would like to have some flexibility for other materials too if possible.
I would also like to be able to do some rotary work so this will be given serious consideration too.
I have done some looking around but nothing better than getting some first hand advice
Any help or suggestions will be taken on board and checked out and would be very appreciated.
Thanks
Tony

Hi,
Well I finally bit the bullett and purchased a GCC LaserPro X380 still waiting on the honeycombe table and the rotary arriving but should be here anyday soon, then the real fun will begin.
A few small items that I have engraved just to get familiar with settings and using the graphics program. Lots to learn but loving it.
Thanks
Tony

Hi Tony
I too am interested in getting a laser for myself.
Could you tell us a little more about this particular laser please? What sort of power, where can we find it, how much it cost etc?
ThanksBob Willson

Had a look at the GCC web site. Nice machine.
I presume you also got a rotary adaptor. Friction roller or chuck style?
Are you using CorelDraw for designs?

Hi Bob,
The company can be found by visiting here. Specification for the machine you will find here. My laser is the 100w one and when tested it was putting out nearer 120w ) Cost you would need to speak to them about as that would depend on what you want and what accessories you wish to purchase with the laser at the time These guys are in Australia too so local support. I was really pleased with the the guys that I dealt with up here in QLD and their service being provided.
I hope that helps Bob
Cheers
Tony.

Thanks mate
Yeh trying my best to get into full steam ahead with the laser so many ideas it's mind boggling
Lots to learn with the graphics software but getting there. Thought I would through a concept design together in AutoCad tonight for a clip together pen case with different looks and combinations so I started working on that tonight and cut the first one. Surprisingly it all clipped together first time
So now its back to the drawing board with some changes and some other design's and lets see what we can come up with
All suggestions and ideas welcome !!
Cheers
Tony.

Hi Tony
Well, assuming that you really mean this and it isn't all just talk. I suggest that you leave this laser machine with me for about 10 years so that I can give it a thorough work out and advise you of any pitfalls before you start to make any costly mistakes.
I am willing to do this out of the goodness of my heart, but if you should also feel the need to compensate me monetarily for this hurculean effort that I am willing to put forth on your behalf, then I shall not begrudge you that small amount of pleasure.
I will send you the delivery address for the postage paid transport of the item in a private message.
No thanks are necessary, but do refer to paragraph two of the above.Bob Willson

Nice looking toy Tony. I have a second hand Epilog 35W laser works well for now. It was only today that I made my first box and was thinking of making one for pens. It would be nice if there was a sub forum for lasers as well. Keep up the good work you are doing very well a lot better then me. David

Hi David,
So far I am very pleased with the new toy as you put it Epilog make a great laser and no holding them back !! that is except the operator Beat you too it lol I have to refine it a bit but I'm sure it will come up looking pretty good when I am finished with it. I'm on a role at the moment as I am on some leave from my day job so good to do some of the things I have been putting off or not been able to do. But that will come to an end soon enough
sub forum for Laser Engravers and Cutters might be an idea, not sure if there would be enough of us though ?
Anyway Cheers for now.
Tony.
