There's a comprehensive set of feed charts at the back of the Onsrud catalogue https://www.onsrud.com/files/pdf/OC-...oolCatalog.pdf but it can be tricky to navigate (you have to work out what catalogue number your type of bit matches, then find it on the charts and convert to metric)

This one is more user friendly (still need to convert to metric) https://www.toolstoday.com/images/CNC-Feed-Rate.pdf

Bits that size should generally be run at the maximum rpm your machine will go (normally 18-24,000 rpm)
Feed speeds are a bit more complex as you have to take in to account your depth of cut, material, grain (you need to go slower across the grain than along it) and required surface finish.

    ....further to this discussion...

is Chip Load a dimensionless quantity or does it have units?

I'm looking mainly at us info sites and I haven't spotted a clear statement as to whether it's 0.01 or 0.01 inches or inches per? etc etc I mean if I multiplied by 25.4 something unexpected might happen...

It's distance (mm or inches) per tooth, so if you're using US info you'll need to convert it to metric for m/min feed speed

    Thanks for that.
Is data available for Aust cutters eg Carb i Tool? or as a start is it ok to base estimates on comparisons with cutter data given on the sites you supplied above?
    Regards,
    Rob.

Carbitool has a small list of feed speeds on page 1 or 2 of their catalogue (available online), but the numbers are pretty much generic for all bits of a given type. For example, a single flute 6mm straight bit should have the same chip load regardless of who made it
