Default How do others go about Squaring Rails/Machine

    Hi all,

I've been having a few issues with the squareness of my cnc (.5-1mm), so I'm about to strip it down and start again from the base up.

I'd be interested to hear how others have squared their machines and rails etc to see if I'm going about it the best way or thinking outside of the box enough?

    Cheers
    Glenn

    Default Shims

    Hi Glenn,
My approach to the tweaking of out of square caused by attaching rails and components to un machined surfaces was to shim.
Fortunately I only had to shim the T Slot rails that are bolted to the gantry ends....also one of the square rail bearing blocks on the X axis that used to bind when tightened off.
    Doesn't take much.

    Cheers,
    Kym
