than why don't you invest in a pulse generator of some sort instead of trying to re-invent the wheel!

Hi SACC52- The video you saw uses AC. This means the motor can only run at 50hz. He is using the 50hz signal as the pulse train. 50htz in a 180step/rev motor means it spins at 180step/rev/50steps/sec=3.6rev/sec or 216rev/min. So if your happy with this speed and this speed only then you can do it this way. You can't use a DC current to run a stepper directly, you need a series of pulses to move it along from magnet to magnet. Cheers Peter S

It will control the speed of a DC motor by PWM, but as it only has two output terminals it won’t operate/control a stepper motor. They need a minimum of 4 output terminals.
