    Default Vacuum System

    Hi all,

Thought I'd post some details on the vac system i have just finished building.
I bought a venutri kit from veneer supplies in the states Project: V2 Premium . Postage was a bit of a killer but i knew what i was buying so it was a bit of a trade off.

I 'borrowed' the idea of using an LPG tank and enclosure from pics on the website, glad i went with the enclosure as it reduces the noise quite dramatically. Also the LPG tank i used was one i got from my old man, it had been sitting in the paddock with an open top for bout 5 years, i didn't take any chances with it so also gave it a good day worth of flushing out with water (tank water of course!). i don't recommend anyone trying to use one unless you really know what you are doing i have heard some horror stories.. get a gas fitter to sort it out!

I've found the tank to be very good with no leakage, i can switch off the power and air supply to unit come back in the morning and the tank will still be at max vac.

as you can see by the dial it pulls just on -27hg and has an amazing amount of clamping pressure.

I'll mainly use this for clamping parts on the cnc bed, veneering and gluing parts.... plus any other uses i can think of! another plus to building the enclosure was putting some wheels on it to make it mobile.

    Cheers
    Glenn

    Well done!
I'd been thinking of something vaguely similar, for minor mass production, with a mdf base for the common shape, and a standard shop vac for the suction.
So far though, I haven't had mass production needs...

Wow a lot of work must have gone into making that.

I dont want to be around when the CNC messes up and cuts anice streak through the middle of the plate!!!

    Thanks Guys!

ahahha maybe i should show you a photo of the first plate i did eeeekkkk.....

I was getting some sort of interference/noise through my z zero plate so after zero'd the piece and it moved to start cutting it would drop an extra 3mm past Z0... was interesting to see how the cnc handled cutting 5mm deep in 6061, straight up the center of the plate without missing a beat before i could hit the eStop!

    Cheers

Great looking clamp! Did you take any photos during the build?

I have a desire to do something similar. I have the vac pump, two gas cylinders for storage ready to go.... Just need to design the table ( clamp ) so any pics or advice etc would be great.
