Default VFD Setup - XIN YE ELECTRIC - YP-C1D5-2G

Well, it looks like Chai is not supplying the Huanyang VFDs anymore.

The one I just got is a XIN YE ELECTRIC - YP-C1D5-2G

I got a manual with the unit but it is entirely in Chinese.

So I guess I'll need some big time help to work which wires go where and what buttons to push.

(I've borrowed the photos from Scotta over on CNCZone as it looks the same as mine and my phone takes crappy photos)

    R & T should be Active & Neutral
U, V, W is the output for the spindle.

John, it looks like the unit is the same, but with a new housing.
My suggestion is scroll through the PD configuration and check it against the posts from Psyco_pig.

also, post specific questions and we should be able to help you resolve issues.

Earth is not clear to me, but it is a chinese character on my unit

    Yep, spot on

Chai has provided some translation of the manual, so I might have a go at wiring it up.

Well I jumped in and wired it up and no magic smoke was released

I just did a couple of start/stops as I have no idea about the other buttons as yet. I'll tackle that once the spindle is mounted in the Z axis and I'm working out the rest of the electrickery.

I'm pleased it spun up first go and it's nice and quiet too

    Hi John,
They are a good investment and you will apppreciate the lower noise. Don't be fooled though as they still make cutter noise so don't expect it to operate as quiet on the bench as it will in production.
By the way I said I would come back to sort out the spindle once I had the machine running but I'm still to get there.
Was that top speed 400hz in the video?
    Cheers,
    Rod

    Hi Rod,

Since I'm comparing my Ozito router on my little machine, even with cutter noise, it should be heaps quieter. I have to wear ear muffs when I run my little one at the moment.

I have no idea what 400hz is?? I might have a closer look at the settings tonight. Chai reckons the VDF is all set up for the spindle and shouldn't need adjustment.

A big difference to an Ozito.
    Top speed is 400hz = 24,0000 rpm.
    Cheers,

    Hey John,

Just ensure you have 120Hz set for one of the PD settings. From memory this needs to set to that value to ensure the air cooling kicks in. Some guys fried their units because it was set to low on defaults.

No worries, I'll check that out tonight and do another test. I did recall reading about that in the other thread, thats why i just did a quick power up/down.

I've just used standard unshielded cable to connect the VFD to the spindle for testing, but I've read everyone is using shielded stuff. Where is a good place to source 4 core shieled cable? I had a look through the Jarcar website, but didn't see any.

    John,
I have found difficulty in sourcing the correct shielded cable. I know what I want, but the suppliers want to sell me 100m rolls which is a bit of an overkill seeing that I only want 10m max!
If I find a suitable supplier, I will let you know.

    Cheers,

    Alan

Thanks Alan, I'll do some net searching and see if I can track something down.

Big thunder storm here at the moment, so I'm not playing with the VFD until it passes.

Just having a look at the partially translated manual and some of the settings seem a little different to the Huanyang VFD

This is the main basic parameters for your reference:
P0004: The rated Voltage of the Motor spindle(220V)
P0058: The rated Frequency(set according to the motor. 50-320Hz is recommended)
P0056: The power of the motor spindle(0.8kw,1.5kw,2.2kw and so on)
P0003: The Max. Frequency of the motor spindle(80Hz)
P0054: The limited Frequency of the motor spindle(60Hz)
P0006: The over load parameter of the motor(150%)

    THE MAIN PARAMETERS:
P0000: Running ways (0: Board Control; 1: outside control)
P0001: Run Way (0: Board Run; 1: Expanding Terminal; 3: COM)
    P0002: Stop way (0:Speed-down; 1:Free; 2:Brake )
P0003:The Max.Frequency(For example: If you want to run 60.34Hz, you can input 60.34)
P0004:The rated Voltage of the motor(Set according to the motor)
P0005:The rated Curency(set according to the motor)
    P0006:The Permitable Over load parameter(0-150%)
    P0007:The Permitable over load time(1-90Second)
    P0008:The Min.frequeny limit(0-350)
    P0009:The Min. Voltage limit(0-350)
    P0010:Voltage setting(100-380)
    P0011:Parameter Lock(0: changeable; 1: Unchangeable)

PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE FOLLOWINGS:
    1. You must set the parameters after the motor stops the running.
    2. If you want to go back to the original settings of the manufacturer, you can set the P0000 to 65535 and then press “ENTER” key waiting until the digital number stops twinkle. Turn off the power and wait for20-30 Seconds, then turn on the power.
    3. Some parameters’ “Save”is not valid until you turn off the power for some time.
    4. If the torque of the motor is not enough at low frequency, you can adjust P0009,Normally From 30.0 to 45.0 is OK. If the number is too big, the motor will be shaking.
