Willy,
No i didn't try it. I was advised that "easyouts" tend to break easier than alan keys.
I mean i bent the alan key (90 degrees) trying to get the brass bit out.
I think i may have to drill and pick the thread to get it out. Tedious but worth taking my time.
I even heated the end a little to see it would break the thread lock used.

Hi Mike
Ok now you will have to pull the metal cap off the motor as there are O rings between the cap and the motor cooling tubes - the heat you applied might have degraded the O rings. Easy enough to do just undo the cap screws and release the wiring connector. Will make it easier to work on removing the fitting anyway.Cheers,
Rod

Yes, that was a question I wanted to ask you guys.
So pulling the back cover off is no problem. So there isn't anything to be careful of after taking out the 3 bolts?

Hi Mike,
It is just a cover and mount for your cooling tubes and electrical socket - doesn't house bearings or any other surprises.
All the same designs can change so use common sense before reaching for the sledge hammer.Cheers,
