    Thanks for a great writeup.

My men's shed bought the bigger machine the 22-44. The paper is 80 wide and I'm having to have a bit of a play getting the 76 mm to fit. Not helped by getting the all thumbs clutz to help!

Now I could coarse sand on one side of the machine and fine sand on the other side. Good in theory, but 80# paper is considerably thicker than 120#. Good idea but not really practical.

Hadn't thought of doing that (I've the 15-32 as well). Now I know not to

I've had the Jet 1836 sander for about a year now - haven't used it much but overall I'm satisfied. I finally got around to fitting a digital height gauge to it and thought a post on the installation might be useful to someone.

Basically, I made a tee slot nut to fit in the motor cooling fins. The iGage transducer fitted perfectly inside the motor support casting.

I also made up a knob for the cover catch as it's a real pain to have to fetch an Allen key every time I want to run the cleaning rubber over the paper (which I should do more often).

Sorry for the late arrival in this thread but I started looking because I was searching for clever ways to install a digital height gauge on my JET 16/32 ...... and I found it!
I fear I may have already posted this (?) but I mounted my JET 16/32 on to a small filing cabinet mostly because I was getting frustrated with the unusable storage space in the supplied A frame support.

I also fitted outrigger castors, and a pair of swing-out ‘gates’ with attached Carbatec roller stands to act as infeed and outfeed guides....

When not in use, the ‘gates’ swing back against the sides and the roller stands tuck in around the back below the motor....

One extra thing Hong I keep promising to do, is to fit some sort of positive lock to hold the infeed ‘gate in the open position because the ocky strap I currently use is just SO unbecoming

Thanks for a great read Ric. Review was very useful, but the entertainment was even better.
