These old Toys and Joys plans are so simple and a joy to build.
They have their hard parts but they're big enough that it's not a problem, plus since I don't have that much time in them I don't mind giving them away like some of the more complicated builds that I've fried my brain to get done.

The Ford is looking very good Bruce.
On the smaller dowels for the wheels, could you go down to say 3/16” dia??

Here she is just about done.
I Ebonized the project to hide the green poplar it was made with, came out a little dark but not to bad.
The fenders and rims are maple so came out a little blacker which works out nicely.
The only thing I don't like about ebonizing is it being water based it raises the grain so have to sand after the treatment.

Have you tried using bamboo skewers? I find that they make terrific dowells for small projects, and they have a lot of strength. Not sure about how they take a stain though.
Love your work.

Dalboy Summer is on it's way so have been insulating the shed so my small air conditioner can do some good.
Couple hours work and a day to get over it, sad but true.
Been looking for a project that catches my interest but so far no joy in mud ville. An Index Of My Model making Blogs on Lumber Jocks.

I know that feeling i took down a tree yesterday and it took all day years ago I would have completed the job in a couple of hours the up side is that there is a nice rootball on it which will make a great piece of turning.
Anyway I certainly will be looking forward to your next build whatever it is
