    Default 1941 Willys Jeep

Now that I have settled into the retirement village I now have time to get back to model making. The wheels for any model takes more time than any other part, so they come first. The blanks were 72 x 17 jelutong turned on my metal lathe (no room here for my old Woodfast) the treads were cut with a Dremel set up on a jig I made . The tyre shape and hubs were cut on the metal lathe by scraper mode . Some photos of the jig etc attached .
I'll see how much I can get done before we head north for a couple of months . John.
Sorry Crowie don't know how enlarge photos.

Always got a jig to add that special authentic touch. Starting off with the usual quality and hopefully this one won't be interrupted with life's challenges.
Enjoy the holiday when you go.

What a great start, love that jig for the tyre treads.

Made some progress, got the chassis , springs axles, steering done in the last few days. The steering looks a bit rough but its pretty small, the king pins are only 18 mm long, all the gunk is super glue . John.

Just when you think you are a wee bit clever someone like you comes along and reminds you, you are but a babe in the woods. I find that inspiring and will watch with respect. Wonderful craftsmanship John.

A fantastic build, love the colour contrasts of the woods. And a big thank you for the inspiration for the jig, I made one with modifications to do my half track wheels
