I've got to lace the front wheel with the modified hub before the bikes finished.
That will be more than enough for me!

    Cheers

I wish I was lacing the front wheel at the moment.
I just gave the battery box a coat of clear.
If you've ever clear coated gold paint you'll know just what it's like.
All I can do now is wait and see if the surface holds
If it does hold I'll give it another coat in an hour or so.
If not it's strip it all off and start again
Like cat on a hot tin roof!

    Cheers

    Success
In the picture the battery box is still wet with the clear coat.
So the paper that the logo's on looks a little washy but that will correct itself as it dries.

The gold paint hasn't reacted to the clear so I'm in business.
Now that I know it all works I can work through the painting with a fair amount of confidence that there wont be any great
    problems along the way.
I'll let the battery box dry then sand it back and give it a couple more coats to get some depth.

It's a good day in my books

    Cheers
    Trev.

Its looking great with some color Trev.

Don't worry too much about your old shop teacher, I remember mine once told my parents that I had no talent and should never consider a career in any kind of design or wood working. So you are in the presence of another good for nothing... Personally, I think the world is a better place because of us folks who are considered to be worthless by someone.

We went to a festival in a small country town today and they had a bit of a display of older vehicles. Sitting in amongst the bikes was this lone ranger. Thought it might be of interest.

Well I'm sorry you can sound it out until the cow's come home there's NO damn "I" in greef!
Meet, Street, Feet, Greet, Greef! How in the blue blazes can that be wrong

Not to mention the report card from my woodworking teacher saying: Trevor shows no aptitude and needs to apply himself more!

Funny thing is as I've gotten older I realise the teachers had no hope with me.
    They did their best.
    Square pegs, round holes!

Who would of thought (there's a word try sounding that one out) all these years later a mate of mines a teacher.
    Go figure.

We should try and catch up when I'm heading home from Dave's on or about the 4th Nov.
It would be great to see you mate

I thought a thought got attacked by Indians (not by the Cheefs though, and yes, I know you're not making one of those.)

    I'd love to catch up.

Not much of a day for spray painting here today it's been blowing a gale.
So most of the work has been sanding.
But I did refit the battery and toolbox's to the bike to see how the look is going.

The 3mm pinstripe is looking pretty good and I'll carry in onto the petrol tank and mudguard's.
The tank will also have the Indian script logo on it which is Gold etched in Black.

I'll make some spacers for the bolts that hold the toolbox so that the threads can't be seen.
As soon as the wind drops I'll get some clear coat on it.

Even with only one coat of clear the battery box looks better.
With a couple more coats it should really pop!

    Damn this is fun

    Cheers

    Working on the little things.
Some days you make changes at are really obvious and others not so much.
A lot of the time I'll go back to something that's already been made.
To add detail or just to improve it's general appearance.

I originally had the fuel line running fairly straight with just a couple of bends to get it the carburettor.

I've modified to have a spiral in it.
Either way was used at the time, but I like the turn in the pipe more.

I've added a very small detail to the dash light in the form of two small pieces that would deflect the light down more.
Their made from cardboard and some filler.

Hopefully the wind will drop today and I can do some more painting.
At the moment it's all over the place.

    Cheers
    Trev.

I gave the handlebars their first coat of paint.
    Along with the gauge plate.
As with all the parts they'll get a few more coats as I go along.

The two red bits that look like buttons are the top of the forks.
The chrome paint seems to be going on well.
That stuffs always a little dodgy.

The tanks due for another coat and the battery and toolbox's can be given another coat of clear.
    Lucky I like painting!

    Cheers
    Trev.
