    Default Barker for Christmas?

I think I've disabled the toy-making forum, so mods, feel free to move this thread.

I thought some of the toy makers may find this c.1950 toy barker interesting.

    Thumbs up

Another interesting piece of history WW.

Does it wag its tail as it is pulled along? I imagine that design could be modified successfully so you could have a yapping mouth and a wagging tail.

Cool idea. Ive seen ducks with wobbly heads and hippos with snappy mouths, so I'm sure wagging tail and yapping mouth could be arranged. Might have to provide your own sound effects though.

Toys were still relatively unsophisticated at this date although it looks like the tail does move up and down.

I'm sure the eye-gouging tail, little ears and pinned axle would all require revising for today's little dahlings.

    Too true, too true.

Mind you I have wandered this earth for 56 years with only one eye and I do shudder at some of the stuphph I see.

    I love it Woody.
It might give the kids an idea what the real world is like, with the ears and tail.

I wonder how it survived so long.

Love the simplicity..... I know it's a bit dangerous... does it mean kids back then were smarter then kids now? They survived all their dangerous toys?

Also... as much fun as animated toys with their wiggly parts are.... aside from braking easier... they also take imagination away from kids. The more simple and generic a toy is, specially when it comes to people and animals, the bigger the play value because kids can then imagine it to be or do all sorts of things. For example... a doll with a big huge smile would be hard to press into service for something sad happening. A simple dog could in a pinch also serve as a horse, cow or anything else..
