    Thumbs up Belly Dump Trailer

    There's no need to wonder any longer, had the plans so why not build the Belly Dump Trailer.

    I found out I could just copy and paste the blog from Lumber Jocks and so you get the whole blog which make my life much easier.

    Got started yesterday on the Toys and Joys Belly Dump Trailer to go with my just finished semi.
    The two main frame members are about the only thing that doesn’t have some off the wall angle to it so it’s making for an interesting build.

    As you can see in the picture I glued up the outside of the frame and then added the bracing as I went.
    I clamped the main brace to the table and as I added parts the glue would glue the parts together but also glue them to the copied plans so everything stay put as I built.
    I made copy’s of the parts with my printer and then cut out a brace held it to the wood and marked it a tad big then cut it out on the band saw, checked out what was needed and hit the disk sander to get the fine tuning.
    And as always there’s a hundred ways to get this done but this is what worked for me this trip.











    It’s a long way from perfect but should serve the purpose for which it’s intended when done.
    If I ever build a bridge for something this frame would work a treat, a pain but a treat. lol

    I've had the plans for over two years or so, got them and a couple others from Grizzly as they have some of the Toys And Joys plans on sale, some of these plans they have are turning brown their so old but cheap is a winner in my book. lol

    The trailer will be nearly 3 ft. long and that's why I've held off so long building it.
    The wife liked the semi but when she sees this here long trailer I just may be in big trouble.

    Just build a flat bed to transport the belly dump trailer on.

    Tell your wife she should be glad that you are not building an Australian "Road Train", Tractor (Prime Mover) with two or three trailers.

    Handyjack Before I started this project I was really taking a hard look at those trailers would be one cool build.

    I need a little better look at the frame system.

    I’m down to fine tuning the look, but hadn’t planned on a 12 wheel rear end so will need to make a couple more wheels.



    Working on the mud guards-fenders.

    That arrangement is what would be called a "B Double". The first trailer is shorter than the second and has a fifth wheel on it.
    A road train would have a trailer on the back of the "Prime mover" and attached to that a dolly (with fifth wheel) and trailer and then another dolly and trailer. That is three trailers, and they could all be the same or all different. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Road_train
    You could always tell the wife you want to make a model of the worlds longest road train with over 100 trailers. Just think of how many different trailers you could make. Not sure where you would display them as it would take up a fair bit of room though.

    Handyjack I really like the looks of the "B Double", would be an interesting frame to play with.
