Default Camaro out of a couple of pallets

    Hi Guys

I missed out on the xmas pallet challenge, so thought I would post this one.
I found a couple of hardwood pallets and set about making something out of them.

Fist job, pull apart and machine down the wood

I had a plan from toymakingplans.com just waiting to be built.
    A Chev Camaro.
I wanted to modify the plan slightly to allow a front and rear windscreen and to also match the wheel size that I had.
It is 200% the size of the original plan.
The lighter timber was quite thick, so I managed to plane it down to 3/4 inch which the plans called for (at the 200%).
The darker timber once machined down went to 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch.

I then cut out the pieces as per the plan.
Took a while on the scrollsaw as the timber is really hard, especially the lighter timber.

Here you can see what I did to modify the plans to cut out the front and rear windscreens.

Here she is in all her glory. I guess it doesn't exactly apply to the pallet challenge rules as I used purchased wheels, axles and steering wheel.
Not having a lathe makes it a pain in the butt to make wheels.

    Lot of fun though.

    Thanks for looking

    Cheers

Very cool Bro. Pallets have become a fantastic free material source for me too, that and broken down old furniture...
Toymaking plans is an inspiration, I'd been playing with very similar ideas to their's but was not quite getting it until I came across them on here and it all clicked together.
    Nice work.

A great looking car Rod. I have in the past used pallet material but now have wood delivered to my door for free and of better quality so don't bother with them now.
