Glad at least one machine is up and running without too much expense. Looks like I may be visiting a Bunnings shop soon Peter.

Lightbulb Crowie it's all your fault!!! LOL

After reading your post I was out in to shop sanding and drilling with my Ryobi battery tools and set the ryobi sander down after the battery quit so put it in the charger and thinking to myself that needed charged pretty quick, so grab the Ryobi drill [it's an old one]to do some buffing and it won't turn on?????
AHHH!!! my drill has died [me thinks] Try turning it by hand and it won't move, take the battery out and plug it back in and no go, so finally go and get the battery out of the charger and the drill works just fine.
How often will two battery's need charging at the exact same time I guess part of the problem is I'm still used to the older batterys that slow down and this kinda tells you they need a charge but with these newer ones they just quit and expect you to figure it out.
Now I say all this to add that it's your fault I went through this trial because of your problems I was primed for a tool to die at any minute.
But all is great in woodville now!!!

That belt is the best kind of fix Peter. The worst part of tools breaking is it seems they go in 3's. I had my drill press, stereo, and jointer all quit at the same time. Fortunately the piece to fix the drill press was $5, my dad gave me his old stereo from the 80's and the jointer needed to be upgraded anyways.

At the moment I need new sanding belts for the OSS, the bandsaw blade broke, and the brand new blades I put in the planer got 2 nicks in it already. UGH.

Well today Handy was threatening to strike!!!

I told him I was putting the concrete truck project on hold for a while and that's when the pandemonium started.

    Fathers Day "Guessing Competition" prize

I thought the little blue bloke was going to have a fit, BUT he eventually settled down when I started on the prize for the Boys & Girls Club "Guessing Competition"....

Watch this space as we'll be back here in a week or so....

Thanks one and all for the encouragement, support and fun.... Cheers, Peter

Nearly finished the Fathers Day Guessing Competition tipper truck so we'll be back on the concrete trucks very soon...

Showed the middle grandson the Tipper Truck this afternoon and guess what he said; "But PA, I really wanted you to make me a Concrete Truck"... Got to love them..

    Cheers, Peter

Must be a tool virus going around.
Last week I had 2 of my corded Makita heavy duty drills (25+yrs old) pack it in within 10 minutes of each other. One threw a bearing, the other a brush. Thought "oh no" where do I get a set of brushes in a hurry. Light bulb moment, try brushes out of one with RS bearing and low and behold, fitted perfectly in the other even though they were 2 totally different drills.
The person who never made a mistake never made anything

    Cheers

Crowie, those trucks look great. Tell us the reaction from the grand son when you present it to him. I am sure it will be priceless. What is next to build?
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod

That's some real nice trucks you've made there Cowie, nice work. Where do you get the wee wooden horns from?

The air-horns are just cut down wooden golf tee's with a small axle cap glued to the end.
To mount the I drill two or three 5mm holes in a small offcut the cut through the holes at 2/3's height and the golf tee just clicks in place.
I'm pretty sure I've borrowed the idea from one of the toymakers either here or on LumberJocks...
    Cheers, Peter
