    Default My Country

I am sure you will all remember having a 15 slide puzzle where you had 15 tiles that you had to get in numerical order. Here I have made mine for the Grandkids (and a few adults too) where instead of numbers I have had Dorothea MacKellars outstanding poem engraved on16 moveable tiles. The first time the solver gets to see the puzzle the poem is jumbled with all 16 tiles in place. The first part of the puzzle is finding out how to get one of the tiles removed so you can start. This is difficult as all, 16 are held firmly in place.

Finding out how to remove the first tile is a challenge on its own but when removed you can then start to solve the puzzle. Here is a picture of the puzzle partially solved and you can see how the sliding tiles interlock.

When the puzzle is finally completed the removed tile is replaced and the puzzle looks like this.

If you have grandkids who are obsessed with electronic hand held screens offer them one of these and tell them that it has a 16 pixel screen

And my head I'd be a scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain.
