    Default Couple of cars

    Hi Everyone

Couple of cars that I made over the last few weekends.

This fist one has Pine for the body, African Sapelle for the sides (The thin bit with windows), Camphor Laural for the Guards and
Tasmanian Blackwood for the door panels.

    Hi Crowie

Took about 3 weekends these ones. The little racing car took about 3-4 hours all up.
The gluing up takes the longest time, as I was waiting for the glue to dry at various times, I would cut out bits for the next one.
I am trying to figure out how I can batch them. Maybe cut out templates and then use the router, rather than scroll sawing each piece.

I used Howard's Orange Oil on these, seems to work really well.
These ones went to my 9yr old. She wants a School Bus now, so I guess that is next.

    Cheers

If doing batches that is the way I would go. When I made the rocking bike and horse even though there may have been only two pieces of the same size to make sure I went the router route, as long as the first one or template is good then it speeds things up as you only need to rough cut on the outside of the line and the rout around.

Also the other up side is that once you have a template it is ready for any other future builds

Thanks Dalboy, I'll give it a crack.
Do you use double sided tape to stick the template to the piece to be routed?

Yes I use double sided tape make sure it is a good one as some will let the pieces twist. For larger pieces where room is not a problem I use the tape and clamps. There is a video of someone routing small pieces which is good and helps keep fingers out of the way when using a router table if I can find it I will post here.

    Found it.

This is not the one I had in mind but worth watching
