    I bought a few bits and bobs from Jackson's Miniatures years ago to make some things for my daughter and my niece. They have a nice selection of 1/12 scale accessories.

    Depending on the complexity involved, you might be able to do a scaled down replica of their own house (or yours). 12:1 scale works out easily when you measure the house dimensions in feet and build the toy in inches. You might be able to foreshorten in depth if dimensions allow.

    This won't help you much but may give you some ideas.
    I built this from a picture of a doll house in Disney World in Japan.

    If you look at the third to last picture there is a book case, and each book has 28 pages if I remember right.
