Well I did manage to get some wood prepared but two pieces will need re-doing due to the fact that the colour of the wood did not match the rest and would stick out like a sore thumb if I was to use it. So tomorrow will see me sorting out some more luckily I have plenty.

Managed to get a small pile of wood cut and now they look a better match all ready for cutting to sizes which I have started to mark out. There still will be other bits tocut but they are now all small pieces and hopefully I will have the right thickness in the pile after taking out the large parts.
No Photo's at this stage as it would only be another pile of wood.

The main chassis is now made which everything else will be fitted to.

What was that about measuretwice and cut once Someone did not and ended up with a piece 1/4" to narrow so I cut anlong the length and cut this in half bringing the twoe prepared edges together to make a wider board this brought the join right through the middle along the length I now have a board the right size. The picture shows before cutting the joined board to the correct size.

It feels as though I have done nothing to the build what with finishing off "The Tower" and some gardening well taking some trees down. And then I still managed some time on the fire truck but due to an oversight by me in that I made the panels for the controls and went to drill them out as they are both the same I drilled them back to back to save some time. By doing them this way has also made me remake them as I drilled the first holes to realise that I had forgotten to change the drill bit sixein the drill from 3/16" to 3/32" not realy a lot of different Oh yes it is. I just hope this is not setting a trend of how the build is going to go. Anyway seem to be back on track I have now drilled the top plate, made the ladder rest cut and drilled the rear light clusters and the support brackets. Remade the control panels and started to make bits to stick into them. Just a couple of quick pictures for you

Thank you Keith, a compliment indeed coming from a master craftsman like yourself. The fire engine will be approximately 27 1/8" X 5 3/4" not worked out the height yet.

Anyway some progress photos starting to take shape now. Not only will this be a article in the magazine but it needs to be ready in two months for someones birthday as it will be a present. A few pieces are just resting in place

It is really taking shape now. People will be most impressed when it is in the magazine and will really look forward to having a go at building it.

Looking good like that plan another to do some day.

A quick photo update working on the cab now but must get the axles drilled and fixed in place as they are only put underneath for the photo. I sat here today crying my eyes out as I had to go and buy some wood for the ladders, I haven't had to do that for ages.

I needed to go out and get it today as it is a long weekend and was not sure if my local timber yard would be open over the bank holiday.
