Something for the girls
Not been posting much lately but still making some toys. Here is my latest project I did over the last 2 days. something for the girls. I seem to make a lot of toys for boys so thought I would give the girls something as well. Just waiting to be painted.
All my toys are donated to charity and these will also be donated when painted and finished. if anyone local has some offcuts of timber they can spare, would greatly appreciate any offers. Quality of the pictures is a bit poor but only taken on my phone. sorry about that guys.

Nice one John. I really enjoy making toys for charities too. I have the fun of making them, and the children enjoy receiving them.
I like the design of the cradle at the back of your second photo. I think the girls will love all the curves and shapes.
I too seem to make a lot of toys which are aimed at the boys. It's good to find some ideas suitable for the girls.
Keep up the good work and the good deeds. I hope someone can help you out with some timber so you can continue your work.Dallas

Hi John, what an excellent idea - well done
Can you please tell us how you did the hinges, and how you will finish them?regards,

There are no hinges, the cradles rock by being attached to the stand with dowels as you can see in the pic, these dowels are not glued in but a tight fit on the stand but the hole slightly larger in the actual cradle itself to allow it to swing/rock.
I will paint them pretty colours because kids love colourful toys.Reality is no background music.

Very nice indeed John, well done; the girls seem to be harder to make wooden toys for!
When my girls were little I just made them a bunch of trucks & cars, before I found patterns for prams, strollers & cots.....
I noticed that you've done each of the ends a slightly different shape, very good if two go to the one family.
How big are they please John?
Cheers, crowie
