    Default GNR Stirling Locomotive

Btw this is also a true favorite of mine. This is a Gauge 1 version and I think you'll agree that the level of detail is incredible.

Really nice - thanks Steve - top detail

Some of the Stirling photos on the link - I have not seen before - thanks for that. Will be very helpful on my painting exploits.

Here is a link to another image, another engine in the class but in service.

That is a well detailed model of 10000, pity it was not a success in service.

    Hi All,

Spent the last 5 days making up another 3 lamps for the tender end of the locomotive. Also made up an attachment bracket so a lamp can be fitted in front of the smoke stack - if need be.

Attached are photos of the components of each lamp and then a photo of them in position.

The hole down the centre was done using 3 different forstner bits to suit the profile of the globe. The top section is made of aluminium tube and the cap is aluminium solid turned in the lathe. The handles are 2mm wire.

No work on the loco today - off to the MCG to see Geelong play Hawthorn

    Regards

    Keith

Thanks Ray - but as that well known senator says - "Please Explain" - I am fairly short and it's gone over my head

    All the Best

Thank you Steve and Ray - I told you I was a bit thick - most appreciated.

By the way a really top day at the footy with my son - a few beers - plus we snuck home by 3 points. Derek and HTL - may have to explain Aussie Rules to you in the future

    Regards

What football code do you support in the USA - Gridiron - To digress - Cathie actually made a quilt for a nephew who went to the USA and supported the Green Bay Packers

    Hi All,

I have been working on the final components on the footplate of the locomotive. I have made up the plate from the tender that allows the fireman to shovel the coal into the firebox.
I have also made up the manual brake operating assembly that operates the tender brakes.

All components for the Stirling Single locomotive have now been made and temporarily placed in position.

Now the difficult and nerve wracking part for me - dismantle - paint and then permanent re-assembly.

This will be a slow process I think. If I muck up the painting it will be redone and redone until I hopefully get it correct. I have decided that a fair bit of the painting will be done by hand - using the technique I used on the 4-6-2 Tank Locomotive. However - where it looks better - I will use spray painting as well.

Will keep you updated on dismantling and component painting.

    Regards

    Keith

Looks fantastic Keith. I for one will be waiting to see the painted train. I have spent many hours over the build enjoying your journey through this even the little hiccups(we all have them from time to time).

It is a sad time when we get to the end as well as a time of rejoice.

Like many I will be waiting for your next journey into a build.

Well I had better get my shoes on, off out of the door as it is only 8:30am here
