I mean, how good does this kit look? Yours would be even nicer!

Steve,
That has WOW factor
Don't think I can get down to that detail. There are some components already assembled and I dare not pull them apart. I will do the best I can.

FWIW the Stirling and its tender didn't roll either when they were identified for restoration. They were loaded onto rolling stock and transported to York courtesy of the British Military.

Derek
Are you sure the Stirling is being pushed OR is the Stirling towing the diesel (so efficient - you cannot see the steam or smoke)

Hi All,
As requested - pretty much an exploded view of my components of the locomotive section. I have kept the bearings, axles and brake assemblies connected to the chasis as I will only be removing them one at a time for painting as they only fit in one position and I don't want to confuse myself too much when re-assembling. I haven't included screws and other small components in the photo.
I have given the smokebox a couple of coats of paint as well as the smokestack.
Thanks everyone for the videos and research you have done for me on the Stirling Single.
Regards
Keith

Good pickup - Yes - an old electric blanket. So thick - it is great to protect glass when you bring it home from the glazier.
Cath won't let me use any good sheets

Hi All,
I have been working on the smokebox of the locomotive. I am giving each component 6 coats of paint. I have found that any less I can see a faint hint of the grey primer underneath (unless it is my imagination). I have also found that the chasis is the best place to leave the components when drying.
One concern I had was handling the "boiler" and how to paint it. Came up with an idea that I could support it between centre on my metal turning lathe. Made up a dead centre for the headstock and then held in position with my live centre at the tailstock. This now allows me to paint the boiler with having to touch it or potentially get any finger marks on the paint. It has also given me an idea on how I can do my pin striping around the circumference of the boiler.
Regards
Keith
