Yes that is correct and in the previous image there appears to be what could be a fire rake leaning up against the footplate suggesting the image was recorded at an engine shed. The injector would be used to fill the boiler while the engine is stationary and the crew can safely operate the valves.

Breathtaking work sir - on my favourite locomotive no less ... I have loved the Stirling 8ft Single for many years, even convincing my (then) new wife that we must go to York to see her in real life ... we arrived but it was nowhere to be found - I asked the staff and was told she had just returned from being used in the new version of The Railway Children and was not on display ... I explained that I had travelled from Australia to York to see her and was escorted to their shunting/marshalling yards, given a Hi-Viz vest and left to go over that magnificent machine for as long as I liked ... it was a good day
I can't wait to see your recreation ... it is coming along wonderfully. Well done!

seriph1,
Really appreciate your comments and attached photo - Thanks
Really glad that you got to see the Stirling first hand. The British have indeed built some incredible steam locomotives.
I am really enjoying building the Stirling.
Will keep in touch

seriph1 has sent me some fantastic photos of the Stirling - thanks mate.
These photos show me that I have made an error in the height of the boiler. Tomorrow (bowls today), I will need to pull the loco I have started to build - apart and redo the chasis to lift the height of the boiler to make it look more realistic. All good fun

One of them fix it now or have major headache later trying to get everything to work out.

Keith,
The consensus seems to be that this book is one of the "go to" references for info on the Stirling Singles: https://www.amazon.co.uk/STIRLING-SI.../dp/B0007IWZ30
I'm actually going to buy a copy myself.....am intrigued about these locos.Whatever note you blow youre never more than a semitone away from the correct one....(Miles Davis)

Hi All,
Well I had to reduce the diameter of the boiler to bring it in line with the prototype Stirling. I did this by calculating the circumference required for the correct diameter and the cutting out a longitudinal section of the PVC pipe I am using. I then made up an internal frame section that slides up the pipe. This has a piece of pine along the entire length. I then drilled and countersunk holes along the length and then clamped and then screwed the pipe to the internal frame that pulls it down to the correct diameter. The end of the boiler shows the end section of frame. This will be enclosed by the smokebox - so it won't be seen. I had to raise the boiler. I did this by making up higher support brackets that I fitted into the old cradles I had made for the larger - incorrect size boiler.
I have also fitted the Fireman side drive piston assembly.
The second photo shows how I am making up the smokebox. I have cut out an annulus into which the boiler end will fit. This has been glued to 4 other round blanks of pine. The wire through the lots helps with alignment. After curing for 24 hours I will turn it to the correct bore for the boiler and the correct Outside Diameter for the smokebox - on my woodlathe.
Regards
Keith
